Best Campsites & Caravan Parks in New South Wales

Whether you're in a tent, campervan, or motorhome, New South Wales is full of stunning spots. If you love national parks, secluded bush, and beautiful coastline then a NSW roadtrip might be exactly what you're looking for! Here's our guide to our favourite campsites in NSW.

Booderee National Park

Located just south of Sydney, Jervis Bay is great for a weekend getaway. Booderee National Park is a mix of crystal clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and beautiful botanic gardens. It offers beachside campgrounds, perfect for a morning swim!

Cost: You must have a park pass to visit, a 1 day pass is $20 ($10 for concessions) and a yearly pass is $80. Costs for the campsite rangers between $35 and $100, depending on the season.

Lake Lyell Recreation Park

Lake Lyell is known for fishing, water skiing, canoeing & more. It's located 2.5 hours from Sydney. The recreation park has plenty of facilities like a kiosk, BBQ area, hot showers, toilets, and designated swimming areas.

Cost: From $30-$35 per night

Hat Head National Park

Hungry Gate Campground is located within Hat Head National Park. It has only 20 sites and is a 10 minute walk from the beach. It's very basic, can bring a tent or camper trailer.

Cost: Park fees of $8 per day apply and $12 for a site.

Blacksmiths Beach Holiday Park

Blacksmiths Beach has plenty of facilities and is even pet friendly! It has a playground, swimming pool, tennis court, kitchen, and laundry facilities. It's great for surfing, fishing, and if you have a 4WD then visiting Nine Mile Beach.

They offer a courtesy bus to nearby pubs and restaurants.

Jindabyne Holiday Park

Located in NSW's Snowy Mountains is Jindabyne Holiday Park. Visit in Winter for some skiing or in Summer for wakeboarding & fishing. Facilities include a communal fire pit, BBQ area, playground, and even a pizza oven!

Wellington Caves Holiday Park

Wellington Caves is a truly unique holiday park, giving you the chance to camp beside historic limestone caves. It's pet friendly, with a swimming pool, kitchen, cafe, laundry facilities, and dump point.

The Basin Campground

Located within Kuringgai Chase National Park, the Basin Campground is very highly rated and not too far from Sydney. It has the typical amenities - BBQ, showers, toilets, drinking water as well as an inland lagoon. You can either arrive by ferry, or walk a 2.8km track from the carpark to the campground so bear this in mind if you have loads of camping gear.

Heathcote National Park

Within Heathcote National Park you'll find multiple secluded campsites - Kingfisher Pool Campground, Lake Eckersley Campground, and Mirang Pool Campground. You have to walk to all three sites as they are vehicle free areas. You will have to be self sufficient with no facilities, food, or water nearby.

Marramarra National Park

Another remote site, if you want to visit Gentlemen's Halt Campground then you'll have to arrive by foot or by kayak! You can also take a boat and camp at Twin Beaches.

Newnes Campground

Located within Wollemi National Park, Newnes Campground is just north of the Blue Mountains. It's 1 0km walk, so only for the adventurous! It does have BBQ facilities and toilets so it's not fully off grid compared to others.

Reflections Jimmys Beach

A hidden gem located between the bay and the beach. It's dog friendly and home to possums and kookaburras. You're right at the waterfront with access to a swimming pool, fire pit, BBQ, and laundry facilities.

South West Rocks Holiday Park

South West Rocks is located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. It has something for all the family, with live entertainment, a water park, food trucks, and a cafe. There's even a Bear Grylls survival course! You can hire e-bikes, and you're also bound to see a kangaroo or 2.

Discovery Parks - Lane Cove

Located only 10km from Sydney's CBD, you don't have to travel far to escape the city. It has plenty of facilities - a BBQ, laundry, pool and more.

Discovery Parks Lake Hume

Lake Hume is a 15 minute drive from Albury. Here you'll have plenty of time for fishing, swimming, and water skiing. There's also botanic gardens and wineries nearby. It has the usual facilities - camp fire, kitchen, laundry, playground , swimming pool and more.
