Our top tips for a Las Vegas - Los Angeles Roadtrip

Head to the bright lights of Hollywood on a budget! Relocate motorhomes from Las Vegas with Imoova and get up to 11 nights to experience the USA from the roadside.

Day 1: Las Vegas to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Pick up your vehicle from one of our friendly suppliers depots. We work with trusted rental companies such as El Monte, Road Bear, and Indie Campers.

Set off early and drive 30 minutes to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area within the Mojave Desert. You can hike one of the trails such as Calico Tanks or Turtlehead Peak. Make a reservation at one of the RV campsites and sleep under the stars.

Day 2: Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to Death Valley National Park

On day 2 make the 1 hour 20 minute drive to Death Valley National Park. Visit Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America! Explore Furnace Creek and watch the sunset at Zabriskie Point. Beware of rattlesnakes! It's the largest national park outside of Alaska so there's plenty to see and do. Spend the night at Furnace Creek Campgrounds.

Day 3: Death Valley to Lone Pine

Do the short 2.5 hour drive to Lone Pine. If you think you recognise it from somewhere, you do! Almost every Western movie was filmed here. You can visit the Lone Pine Film History Museum and take a trip down memory lane. Stop at Alabama Hills for photos.

Day 4: Lone Pine to Sequoia National Park

Drive 2 hours to Sequoia National Park. Visit the Giant Forest and General Sherman Tree. In the afternoon you can hike to Moro Rock and spend the night in the park, surrounded by the world's largest trees.

Day 5: Sequoia National Park to Kings Canyon National Park

Spend the morning exploring more of Sequoia National Park before setting off on the 1 hour drive to Kings Canyon. Visit Giant Grove and hike the Zumwalt Meadow Trail, before spending the night in the park. The park is home to rattlesnakes, bears, and cougars so exercise caution.

Day 6: Kings Canyon to Yosemite National Park

It wouldn't be a Californian roadtrip without a visit to Yosemite. Enter the park via the Big Oak Flat Entrance, visit Yosemite Valley, Bridalveil Fall, and enjoy views of the famous El Capitan. In the village there are shops, restaurants, galleries, and accomodation. If you want to spend the night in the park, be sure to book as far ahead as possible.

Day 7: Yosemite

Spend another full day in Yosemite - 1 afternoon isn't enough! Visit Glacier Point, Mariposa Cove. Based on your fitness level, choose an afternoon hike that's suitable for you such as Mist Trail or Mirror Lake. Spend the evening stargazing in the park.

Day 8: Yosemite to Monterey/Carmel

Start the day bright and early with a 3.5 hour drive to Monterey. Visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. There's lots of seafood restaurants to choose from for a late lunch. Drive 10 minutes south to the quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea. Fun fact - you need a permit to wear high heels here!

Day 9: Carmel-by-the-Sea to Santa Barbara

Take a scenic drive along the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). Make sure to stop at Bixby Creek Bridge and McWay Falls. Continue 2.5 hours to Santa Barbara. Visit the many upscale boutiques, wineries, beaches, and the famous State Street.

Day 11: Santa Barbara to Los Angeles

After a jam packed road trip it's time to return your vehicle! Drive 1.5 hours to Los Angeles where there's no shortage of things to do. Check out our previous Imoova Magazine for inspiration!

Our top tips:

Book reservations in national parks as far in advance as possible (ideally as soon as your relocation is confirmed)

Pack accordingly, the temperature can vary from day to night in the desert

Always carry plenty of water, food, and fuel

Plan ahead for hikes - check conditions, times, and difficulty.
